So you made me cry again today. How beautiful! How wonderful that God selected such a family as yours to care for one of his special children. God bless you all!

:tears: Thank you for sharing your journey with Ryan. It has inspired and comforted many moms of children who are "different". I think of you and often ask Ryan to intercede for us. What a blessing he continues to be. <3

Like many others, I miss The Long Island Catholic newspaper. I did not really care for the magazine format—I just felt that it was a generic magazine, with a few local stories thrown in.

I really enjoyed your column and Alice’s, and looked forward to reading them each week.

I thought that the term”wildflowers” was a very apt term for the special people like your Ryan. I had two young men affected with autism in my life—one is my nephew Matthew, and the other young man is Tim, who is the younger son of my friend Cecilia.

These two men are in their mid to late 30s now. Matt lives with his dad in a nearby state. He works part time in a local McDonald’s, and takes care of the family dog. Tim has transitioned into a group home in Suffolk County. He is very well taken care of, and has friends and a part time job. His dad is very pleased with how things are working out.

I wonder how many people have not stopped to cherish the wildflowers God has placed in their midst.

On a totally unrelated topic, some time between my June and July hospital stays, your pastor, Msgr De Grocco gave a workshop for our parish music ministers. He had a lot to say about the importance of what is really vital to the understanding of and participating in liturgy.

He spoke for a bit about the young woman he had hired to be the parish music director. He had wonderful things to say about her understanding of liturgy and her part in it. I just thought you might like to have a proud mama moment..,

I’m so glad to have found your writing on Substack. Does Alice write anywhere? I enjoyed reading her columns, too.

Have a pleasant summer weekend, and I’ll remind my friends to look for the wildflowers in their lives.
