Mary Ellen:

Addiction is such a familial thing, permeating from one generation to the next. I believe in my family, it started with one of my paternal great grandfathers, through my grandfather, my father,

his brother, three of my 6 brothers, four cousins(that I know of), and also my paternal grandmother’s family--several of her 6 brothers and probably her father and grandfather.

I think I will wait until I read your part 2 to add the rest of my comments.

Until then, hugs

Mary

Asmy mother’s sister told one of my cousins, “my father was an alcoholic and I married one.” The same would apply to my mother. I can relate to Mary Ellen’s story. But as far as I know, at least there was no infidelity in the family. On the other hand there also was no guidance as to how to be an adult.
