This has been a wild few weeks

When I woke up on November 6th and realized what had happened I did something I don’t often do and posted on X.
To say I was shocked is an understatement and I am still just reeling from the blow-out that this turned out to be. I went to bed early on election day while the map was pretty red but thinking this would end up being crazy close and would be litigated for weeks and I was sure I would be sick to death of it all, so I turned it all off and got some much needed rest.
My oldest son texted us from his dorm at 1 am that Trump had won. I did not check because I assumed he had declared it for himself and that I would wait until the morning.
BEfore I got out of bed I turned on the news. The people at Fox were practically wetting their pants with joy and the Morning Joe crew were dumbfounded, truly acting as if they could not understand the words they were reading.
Wild times America, wild times.
In some respects this reminds me of the first election in which I voted, 1984 Ronald Reagan. Of course that was a lot more dignified and there was no social media on which people could behave like raving lunatics about a President who has been president once before and they all lived to tell the tale. Calm down and stop acting the fool, you’ll be fine.
I’m not a huge fan of public displays of emotion. My mom was very clear that a “real lady” does not give way in public, that’s what your bedroom is for. She could have written that Miranda Lambert song, “Mama’s Broken Heart”.
Go and fix your makeup girl, it's just a breakup
Run and hide your crazy and start actin' like a lady
'Cause I raised you better, gotta keep it together
Even when you fall apart.
I’m not saying it’s always the best way but in this circumstance, where posts live forever and someday you might want to get a decent job, it’s best to use restraint.
