I may have mentioned in a previous newsletter that my Instagram has been curated to be non stressful viewing of friend’s babies and grandbabies, cottages in the UK and food. Anything I find annoying gets cut because I am old enough to know that social media is not worth being annoyed about. I wasted too many hours arguing with people on the internet before realizing it was next door to useless, no one’s mind has ever been changed by a sarcastic stranger on Facebook.
That being said, I found myself nodding my head over a little rant that a woman behind an account I follow for her aesthetically pleasing cottage feeling home which she seems to furnish and decorate second hand. Her rant was about minimalist decor. Her personal opinion was that is was ugly and cold but if you like it, fine go with it. Her point was that a lot of decor magazines and designers say that if you have a lot of things that you are trashing the environment, you are selfishly creating a terrible situation for your kids when you die, your house can’t possibly be clean, and all of those kinds of arguments.
I was unaware of the controversy.
