Let me start by saying I am very healthy. I take no medicine, my blood pressure and cholesterol numbers are textbook perfect, I am not pre-diabetic, and all my joints, though creaky, work the way they are supposed to. They are a little slower, perhaps, but they get the job done, and for that, I am grateful.
The idea is to stay this way for as long as possible. Coming from a genetic pool of many diseases and conditions, it behooves me to pay attention to this stuff.
This time last year I was thirty-five pounds heavier than I am now. This is a good beginning, I have a way to go but at least the numbers are going in the right direction. One year is a long time to lose only that much weight but it’s gone and I am grateful. It may have gone faster had I eliminated some food groups or lived by some hard and fast rules but for the first time in my adult life, I decided to do something different than a fad diet. I decided to be radical in this approach.
